ART NOUVEAU & ECOLOGY
In spring 2011, the
Réseau Art Nouveau Network chose to meet in Barcelona on two very
topical issues: the benefits and harms of tourism on the preservation of
Art Nouveau heritage and the use of new technologies for heritage.
The first theme, which will be a historical
lab, will deal with the sustainability of buildings and solutions that
can be found faced with tourist flows sometimes difficult to control.
The speakers coming from all over Europe and beyond will especially
focus on the case of CX La Pedrera in Barcelona, the work of Victor
Horta in Brussels, the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, The Palau
Cueto in Havana or the Crespi d'Adda workers' village in Lombardy.
During a multilateral exchange, we will
discuss the second topic of new technologies and social networks: these
new tools represent a significant potential in the spread of Art Nouveau
heritage, but also a great challenge for the cultural sector. Barcelona,
Brussels, Budapest, Glasgow and Aveiro will share their experience,
among others web design, virtual archives, digital images of historic
monuments and presence on social networks. Happy reading and see you in
Barcelona!
